Calling the tune by Tulip Radio
This week, Tulip Radio welcomed Alison Pratt to our studios for an interview for our weekly Tulip Talk programme.
Alison is the NFU Communications Adviser for the East Midlands Region with responsibility for Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
The NFU is the largest farming organisation in the UK, providing a strong, respected and independent voice for the industry.
East Anglia is one of the most productive agricultural areas in the world. As well as producing quality food, its farmers and growers support thousands of jobs, manage the countryside and offer solutions to alleviate problems posed by climate change.
We discussed rural issues including flooding and hare coursing which, despite being illegal, is still a major scourge throughout Lincolnshire.
Alison described how proactive Lincolnshire Police were with Operation Galileo and also how reducing coursing also helped to reduce theft from remote farm buildings and such like.
Alison mentioned Farmhouse Breakfast Week which ran from January 20-26. The aim of Farmhouse Breakfast Week is to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast and demonstrate the variety of breakfast produce available around the country.
Alison’s full interview can be heard through the podcast section on our website www.tulip-radio.co.uk.
