Former Spalding Grammar School boy receives doctorate

Dr Jeremy Ely, whose father Richard Ely lives in Long Sutton, has recently received a PhD in Glaciology from the University of Sheffield.

The former Fleet Wood Lane School and Spalding Grammar School pupil submitted a thesis entitled ‘Flow Signatures on the beds and surfaces if ice sheets’.

During the study period for his Doctorate, Jeremy was also the recipient of the Chorley Award from the British Society of Geomorphology for the best student research paper.

Jeremy is currently working for Sheffield University Geography Department.
