Two young South Holland bakers have beaten, folded and creamed their way into the finals of The Boston College Bake Off.
They are Katie Hudson (pictured above), of The Thomas Cowley High School at Donington, and Sophie Lorenz, of Thomas Middlecott Academy at Kirton.
They are among six bakers vying to be crowned the first Boston College Bake Off Star Baker at the final taking place next Friday, March 3.
Inspired by the Great British Bake Off, the college launched its inter-school baking competition, which is intended to highlight the talent and skills of some of the county’s best young bakers.
As well as being crowned Star Baker, the students have the chance of winning great prizes. The winner will receive a £100 Russums voucher and baking equipment hamper, as well as a £500 Russums voucher for their school.
The 12 students who submitted the best ‘Show Stopper’ cake ideas took part in a Masterclass, competing in technical challenges with Boston College bakery lecturer Andy Readman and award-winning RAF chef Lisa Howarth.
