The Lincolnshire Free Press is helping to bring the magic of Christmas to Spalding.
Producer Paul Hammond – known all over the world for family shows – is bringing his first pantomime to Spalding in December, with the support of these newspapers.
Paul, who runs Hammond Feel the Magic from Pinchbeck, has built up a loyal following for his shows at Baytree Garden Centre at Weston over recent years.
However, the growing popularity of these shows has meant that logistically Baytree could not accommodate the Hammond family pantomime, Aladdin.
Instead, it is going to be shown at Springfields Events Centre from Tuesday, December 20 to Wednesday, December 28.
And when Wishee Washee and the Genie take to the stage they will be supported by a troupe of local children who love dancing and would like to have a go on the stage.
Paul and the team are running auditions for local children to show off their skills next Sunday, October 23.
Paul emphasises that prospective performers do not necessarily have to belong to a dance school.
He said: “Just come along if you love to dance and would like to have a go. It’s a fun experience.”
Four trained people will teach the routines to the youngsters, who will perform on a rota basis, with rehearsals taking place on Sundays and after school on the week before the show begins.
Paul adds: “It’s a great opportunity for local children to be part of a professional show, even those with little dance experience should attend.”
The children will be performing alongside Kia Pegg, playing the Genie. She is well known for her role as Jody Jackson in British children’s drama Tracy Beaker Returns and The Dumping Ground.
In addition, locally based Jordan Russell, a favourite from the Baytree shows, will play Wishee Washee.
Paul said: “Christmas is a family-orientated time and I hope the panto will be exactly that, with families coming at a price they can afford.”
Tickets for the show start from just £6. Visit www.hammondfamilypantomime.co.uk for audition times for various age groups and to book tickets.
