Armagh based singer/songwriter to ‘drop in’ to Spalding

FOLK fans in the area are in for a real treat when Armagh based singer/songwriter, Briege Murphy, breezes into Spalding for a special one-off performance at St Norbert’s Community Hall in May.

Briege has performed at major festivals around the world, including the Cambridge Folk Festival. She is also regarded as a storyteller, recounting the inspiration behind the songs – with her trademark sense of humour!

Although perhaps not that well known in South Lincolnshire, Briege Murphy is in great demand elsewhere in Ireland and around the world, last year she undertook her first Australian tour and has been invited to return there again this year to perform at ‘The National Folk-Festival of Australia’ in Canberra.

Briege was born and gre up in the village of Forkhill, South Armagh – where she still lives. Born into a large family, steeped in musical tradition.

Tickets are now on sale for Briege Murphy performance at St Norbert’s Community Hall, St Thomas’s Road, Spalding on Friday, May 20. Tickets are available priced at £7 from the Parish Office, situated next to the Catholic Church or call 01775 722056.
