Chairman of the Parachute Regimental Association Spalding branch
MAY I thank all those who made the flower parade and weekend so successful? In particular I would like to thank those who helped the Spalding branch of the Parachute Regimental Association.
Our special thanks go to Chris Carter, of Banks Drove, Spalding, for the 1942 Ambulance, John Allen Transport for servicing it and David Goldsmith for driving it. Similarly Bert Flatters, farrier from Baston, for the Willis jeep which carried our Second World War veterans as escort to the Flower Queen.
The branch also ran a tombola stall at Springfields which was a great success and our thanks go to TotalProduce of Werrington for the lovely baskets of fruit which were our star prizes.
Finally thank you to all the staff who looked after us and made life as uncomplicated as possible while we were planning this venture and of course all those who supported this charity with their donations of prizes and buying the tickets.
It was a great weekend, well planned, well organised and great weather.
DAVID ALLMOND
