Little to be upbeat about in local political scene

I must respond to Angela Skeels' letter (Lincolnshire Free Press, June 3).
Firstly, I have never in all my letters mentioned anyone by name. I tend to work on the principle that "if the cap fits ..."

I would love to be upbeat and positive but since I retired six years ago and moved to West Pinchbeck I have had little to
be upbeat about with regard to local and national politics.

When I retired I was working for the London Fire Brigade in a reasonably responsible position and before that was a district administrator for the NHS, also in London.

During that time I crossed paths with local and national politicians and the impression I was left with was that they were incapable of independent thought. You must follow the party line.

I therefore suggest that Angela gets real and looks at what is going on in the world – England, Lincolnshire and Spalding and see it for what it is.

I have been lucky enough to have travelled as far west as Cuba and east to Turkey, places where free speech can get you killed.

Finally I would like to point out that the people she mentioned in her letter take their positions of their own free will. No-one twisted their arms and if they don't like the heat they should get out of the kitchen.
