AS a former councillor and member of South Holland District Council development control committee, I was appalled to read (Spalding Guardian, March 20, regarding Nestwood Homes) that the inspector at the public inquiry showed total disregard for the residents' concerns.
I refer specifically to the complaint regarding the change in levels, which causes overlooking and lack of privacy.

I can see little point in the development control committee making any decisions at all when along comes an inspector (who obviously has no local knowledge) and overturns decisions made by elected representatives.
