The coverage of the flower festival (Lincolnshire Free Press, May 6) was absolutely correct in that we were lucky enough to have fantastic weather to complement an excellent occasion.
However, I saw the event from a different angle this year as we had two lots of visitors who came up on coach trips from the West Country.
Two of them were fit enough to walk and explore within the time that their coaches allocated. We had arran
ged to meet up with them and enjoy the day together.
We had a great time admiring the gardens, going into Springfields to see the floats.
The other friends were quite infirm and were keen to spend the day with us on the Sunday and would come over in a taxi. They were staying at the "Spalding Flower Parade Holiday Inn", which proved to be in Cambridge!
My concern is how many other coach trippers arrived at the designated car parks, struggled their way with their inclusive tickets to Springfields where there was, apart from the floats, precious little to see.
They never saw Spalding, never mind the beautiful gardens at the retail park, to say nothing of the magnificent flowers at so many of the churches.
Spalding must ensure that this event is properly sold to these coach companies and that their customers go home feeling that they want to come again and see more than the disappointing area around the floats.
