Children taking part in a litter pick at Gedney Hill vowed to help keep the village clean and tidy in the future.
Youngsters picked up a range of items that were lying on the ground of the playing field behind their school, including food wrappers, plastic bottles and cans.
The field is used for the pupils of Gedney Hill primary school for their sporting activities and the children say that they value having somewhere clean and tidy to play.
Emily Wilkinson-Roberts said: "We play rugby there and I am in the school football team as well. I am football mad so it's good to have a clean field to play on."
"I don't drop litter anyway and I definitely won't now."
Sophie Dorken and Emma Spooner are regularly involved in helping younger pupils at the school to learn about road safety and say they also understand how important it is to look after the environment around them after helping to tidy up their school grounds.
Sophie said: "The playground looks fantastic and we will try and keep it that way. I've enjoyed it. It has been a really good event."
