Pub owners' plea to help clean-up

Owners of a pub have called on South Holland District Council to help them stop a Grot Spot from building up outside their premesis.
Rex and Debbie Andrew are increasingly concerned about the amount of rubbish that builds up outside the Robin Hood pub in Winsover Road, Spalding.
They say that every Monday morning they are left clearing up bottles, cans, takeaway wrappers and bags from the street around their pub – all items they do not sell.
Because it is a business the Robin Hood has to dispose of its rubbish in a private bin collection but the couple want the council to help them out with regular road sweeper visits and public bins for the back of their pub.
Mrs Andrew said: "I think the service we get for all the council tax that we have to pay is poor.
"The car park looks an absolute tip after the weekend and our bin ends up full of rubbish that we have to collect.
"None of it is stuff that we sell and whenever we have a party in our car park we always make sure we clear any litter away.
"It is not very nice for our customers to see. I would like the council to send their road sweeper outside the pub and we have offered to have three recycling bins in the car park for us and other people to use."
A spokesman for the district council said an officer would visit the pub to see if there was the need for a public bin in the area.
