Gum is gone thanks to powerful machine

Blasting chewing gum from pavements and graffiti from walls could be quick and easy for South Holland District Council.
Farrow System sales manager Daniel Clarke, who was born and bred in Long Sutton, believes his company's machine would have no problem tackling the issues facing the district.
It was originally designed for the maritime industry to help remove antifoul from the underside of boats but has been refined for wider use and has the power to remove road markings, clean up antique furniture or even take ink off a page.
The machine demonstrated in Crowland costs £30,000 but South Holland District Council is looking into buying a smaller version, which would cost £15,000.
Mr Clarke said: "Councils are starting to cotton on to the benefits of the machine and it is nice to see that my home town area is one of the first to take an interest.
"It is certainly a time saving exercise – imagine being down on the floor with a paint scraper trying to lift it off.
"The machine is very simple to use – it does what it says on the tin."
