SPALDING'S oldest theatre company returns to the stage with a series of one-act plays ranging from a chilling murder mystery to classic comedy.
Five Bites of the Cherry features three spies trying to steal a secret formula, an actor who is constantly interrupted by his stage crew and an ex-wife who has had enough of her husband's abuse and decides to get revenge.
The show is being performed by Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS), which has cast more than 20 actors for the production.
Toni Martell, Helen Sharrock, Brian Jackson, Mark Yates and Keith Hodges will all make their SADOS debuts in the show.
Director Brett Moore said: "The shows are very funny but one of the plays is a real chiller.
"Cast members are enjoying rehearsals and are trying to keep a straight face but it is proving difficult.
"We have quite a big cast and the new members have all got parts.
"We also have a lot of young people involved, which is great for us as we are always looking for new talent."
The performance includes plays The Chinese Pendant, The Red Spy at Night, Split Ends, Drink To Me Only and A Classic Performance by local playwright Brian Bosworth.
Five Bites of the Cherry will be performed at Spalding Grammar School today (Friday) and tomorrow.
Shows start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £6 for adults and £5 for concessions.
