Councillors and their clerk donned school uniforms to pick up a donation from the Deepings School towards a play area.
Deeping St James parish councillors Kate Shinkins and Kim Parr and clerk Sheila Kostyrka collected £280 towards a multi-activity ball area to be installed at the popular skate park in Linchfield Road.

The council submitted a bid for £35,500 to WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) for the area, the third phase of their project at the "Woody Heights" site.

It proved unsuccessful but WREN has encouraged the parish council to re-submit the bid and the Deepings School youngsters helped by raising the funds with a non-uniform day.

Shelia said: "We now have our fingers crossed for a positive result when the awards are announced in September 2009."
