Start the new year with a trip to tip

Taking down the Christmas decorations is the perfect time to think “green” and recycle all the cards, paper and even your tree.

Real or plastic trees are among the items which can be taken along to the Household Waste Recycling Centre in Spalding’s West Marsh Road.

Other items which you could find ready for the bin as you declutter for the new year include batteries, books, CDs, small electrical appliances and even cooking oil.

Ian Taylor, waste operations team leader, said: “Our sites will take many of those things which Santa has replaced.”

The centre is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 8am to 4pm.
