Young Ruby Edgerton from Moulton lost her waist-length locks and Joe Thorold had his head shaved at Donington’s Costcutter supermarket - all to raise as much as they could towards Children in Need.

The TV charity blockbuster rolled over south Lincolnshire for another year on Friday allowing local people to prove just how silly and just how generous they can be when it comes to aiding a good cause.

Schools dressed up and down - in pyjamas - for the day with pupils paying to get out of uniform into something a bit more fun.

Most didn’t stop there, setting up side-shows and stalls in break-time - at Bourne Academy teachers got a soaking for charity from sponges thrown as they stood in the stocks.

Mountains of home-made cakes and biscuits were sold in playgrounds and village halls, often by people wearing surprising costumes or just a pair of Pudsey Bear ears.

You couldn’t be too young to take part, either, as tiny tots in playgroups had a great time being turned into fully formed cartoon characters complete with face-painting.

Lincolnshire Free Press photographers were out and about on the day to bring you a round-up of just a few of the day’s high points.
