Queen’s Nurse title for Kai
A community nurse has been awarded a prestigious title for his work.
Kai Brownhill, who is lead nurse for education and support to nursing homes for the south west of Lincolnshire – which includes Bourne and Market Deeping, was one of two from Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust to be successful in applying for the title of Queen’s Nurse.
The accolade by the Queen’s Nursing Institute refelcts commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership.
Kai (pictured) joined community nursing services in 2009 as a community response and rehabilitation nurse.
He said: “Being a Queen’s Nurse is an opportunity for me to continue to improve standards of care at the trust.
“I also hope to learn from other Queen’s Nurses to help develop the services we offer in Lincolnshire.”
Sue Cousland, LCHS chief nurse and director of operations, said: “We are extremely proud of Kai’s achievement.
“This mean we now have five Queen’s Nurses working at the heart of our community teams and their contributions to improving services on both a local and national level are absolutely invaluable.
“By working more closely with organisations such as the Queen’s Nursing Institute we will continue to improve standards and provide the very best care for patients in the community throughout Lincolnshire.”
The title of Queen’s Nurse is open to community nurses with more than three years’ experience. Managers and patients provide feedback about applicants, which is assessed along with their application.
