Weston Hills Primary School pupils Ben Norton, Ashley Hughes, Katie White and Thomas Doughty enjoy Birdwatch Week.

Weston Hills Primary School became a birdwatcher’s paradise when pupils armed with binoculars kept their eyes on the skies for the school’s Bird Watch Week.

Artwork and writing were also part of the week when pupils were shown how to spot garden birds by Simon Rummery from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

Donna Upsall, assistant headteacher, said: “Mr Rummery spent an hour with each class, teaching them how to recognise common garden birds by their songs before taking them outside with binoculars to try and find some.
