Post box has to be replaced

Sutton Bridge Parish Council is having to replace its post box for a second time because of vandalism.

Members of the parish council heard on Tuesday that The Curlew Centre, where the council offices are based, had offered to replace the parish council’s damaged post box.

But councillors decided the parish council chairman John Grimwood and clerk Suzanne England should choose a “robust” one and have it installed inside the community centre rather than on the outside wall.

Coun Chris Brewis said: “It needs to be more robust than what’s there now.”

• A Community Payback team was in the village on Sunday clearing leaves and rubbish from around the church, Memorial Park, the community centre car park and children’s play area.

There is now a dog poo bin at the children’s play area and Coun Grimwood is urging dog owners to put waste in that rather than the ordinary litter bin to reduce a potential health risk.
