Parish funeral bier to return

AN important part of Long Sutton’s history – the parish funeral bier – is to return to the village and may go on display at the Co-op funeral service showroom.

Owned by the parish council, the bier has been on long-term loan to the Muesum of Lincolnshire and will be loaned only to the Co-op.

News of its impending return was given to the council by councillor Bobbie Ashton, who said the museum no longer had space to store it.

Coun Wayne Dye said: “I think it’s a good idea to bring it home.”
