Model railway enthusiasts vie for a good view of the best in show LNER The Gresley Beat layout.

MORE than 4,000 visitors made tracks to Spalding Model Railway Club’s 2011 successful two-day show.

Model railway enthusiasts from all over the country went along to show off their layouts or to admire the work of others at the event, organised by Holbeach man Edward Dickerson on behalf of the club.

During the show, chairman of South Holland District Council, Coun Michael Seymour presented a trophy to Mel Rees, of Penhallick, and the model railway club chairman John Brown presented the SMRC Shield of Cliff Parsons, of Gresley Beat, for the best layout in show as voted for by the visiting public.

Plans are now in the pipeline to hold the show on the same weekend next year.

SMRC meets every Wednesday and Friday evening at Pinchbeck Village Hall and new members are always welcome.
