2012 will provide a special challenge for two Spalding men who plan to spend the year raising as much cash as possible for Parkinson’s UK.

Tim Langford and Chris Peel will be undertaking all kinds of fundraising tasks, starting with a leg wax on February 4 and including a 400-mile cycle ride around northern Ireland over four days in June.

Tim lost his father-in-law Jim Rutledge to Parkinson’s just before Christmas and has decided to fundraise in his memory.

The leg wax will take place at Spalding Rugby Club and is being done by Jo Barrett-Osborne, from Oasis Beauty and Day Spa at Little London.

Tim said: “I lost my father-in-law just before Christmas and it’s spurred me on to start this fundraising drive.

“Jim had suffered from Parkinson’s Disease for ten years and the money raised will go to support Parkinson’s UK.

“Chris was involved in the SPOKE Ten-in-Ten challenge, which saw him and three others cycle through ten countries in ten days for charity, so he’s no stranger to this sort of thing.

“We are hoping to raise some sponsorship from local businesses to cover the costs involved in the ride as well as raising as much as possible for the charity, so if anyone could help us out it would be mich appreciated.”

The ride – to be called the Jim Rutledge Memorial Cycle Ride – will include 15 categorised climbs – one category three, three category four and 11 category five.

TIm added: “It’s quite a challenge for two lads from the Fens where a molehill is considered a mountain!”
