Luke’s marathon for ill children

Children with life-threatening or terminal illnesses will benefit from the marathon efforts of a Spalding man.

Luke Jackson, who works at Spalding’s Garth School, is already well into training for the Brighton marathon on April 14 and is hoping to beat his previous best time – which he achieved around Rutland Water – of four hours 12 minutes.

But his biggest target for the 26.2mile course is to raise £1,000 for the Rainbow Trust, which provides emotional and practical support for families of seriously ill youngsters.

Luke (23), who lives in Low Road and is also involved in Spalding Hockey Club, said: “I wanted to do this for the Rainbow Trust because I work at the Garth School and some of our children have been helped by the charity.

“I’ve done marathons before, although not the Brighton one, but I’ve been in training since last April and I’m hoping to do it in about four hours.”

Anyone wanting to support Luke’s efforts can find him on Facebook, or drop cash in to the Garth School, Pinchbeck Road, Spalding.
