BIG-hearted ‘punters’ contributed £2,300 to charity by having a flutter at a race night in Spalding.
The annual St Barnabas Hospice fundraiser was moved to the larger space at The Vista this year because of demand for tickets.
More than 130 people turned out to cheer on their fancied horses on the big screen and support the charity at the same time.
As usual they were served with a fish and chip supper and brought their own drinks.
St Barnabas, which runs a day therapy and hospice-at-home service at Clover Way, Spalding and other facilities throughout Lincolnshire, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
Area community fundraiser Vikki Allen said: “2012 is going to be very memorable for us, with lots of events planned.
“The race night has been run for years by two of our volunteers, June Mason and Don Wright.
“It’s got a bit bigger and raised a bit more money each year, and the Spalding ‘punters’ always do us proud.”
