HOLBEACH charity shop Chosen gave a whopping £2,000 cheque to Christine Bonner, the Gedney mum who last month walked 150 miles to raise money for The Royal Anglian Regiment benevolent fund.

The shop at 14 Fleet Street opened its doors only 15 weeks ago and this is the second £2,000 pay-out. The first went to Spalding and Holbeach Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mary Cooper is one of 18 former charity shop workers who joined forces to open a shop where good causes are chosen by customers.

Mrs Cooper said they are now raising £2,000 for an adult learning centre near Spilsby and then they will help people with diabetes. Donated goods are welcome.

Christine (55) lost her son, Cpl Darren Bonner (31), in Afghanistan in 2007.
