Astronomy club members enjoy some stargazing
SOLAGS member Grant Woodman and teacher Mark Wellock take a look at a telescope being operated by SOLAGS chairman Jeff Powell with pupils Edouard Johnson, Luke Green, Ruben Roque, Mathieu Johnson.
STARGAZING has been the topic of extra lessons for aspiring astronomers from Spalding Grammar School.
Members of the school’s Astronomy Club joined SOLAGS (South Lincolnshire Astronomical and Geographical Society) as part of an event to correspond with the BBC’s Stargazing Live.
The club had the chance to meet and talk to experienced astronomers and take a look at some high-quality telescopes.
Stuart Kilby, head of science, said: “The event was particularly busy as it coincided with our Year 9 parents’ evening. Many of our boys enjoyed seeing the display that SOLAGS put on, as well as getting out in the field and looking at Jupiter and five of its moons.”
