A snowy Highland winter frieze

HIGHLAND Cattle thrive and breed where no other cattle could exist, so recent temperatures of -3 degrees, or thereabouts, would have been nothing to one of Britain’s oldest, most distinctive breeds.

The hardy breed take its name from their homeland in Scotland, with its vast areas of poor mountain land with high annual rainfall and bitter winds, but they are found all over the world.

This animal was spotted by our photogapher Tim Wilson at Pinchbeck Bars, majestically surveying the flat lands and watery dykes of its adopted home.
