£130,000 raised during Denise’s two-year chairmanship
Outgoing committee chairman Denise Vickers has now handed over her post to Mick Reeve.
FUNDRAISERS from Spalding and Holbeach’s branch of Macmillan Cancer Support pulled out all the stops to raise some £80,000 last year.
The total was revealed as outgoing fundraising committee chairman Denise Vickers handed over the reins to Mick Reeve.
Fundraising events over the last year have included a quiz night, bingo night, a centenary balloon race, a frog race and a Halloween ball.
The group usually hopes to raise between £50,000 and £60,000.
Denise said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my stint in the chair, it really has been great fun and I’ve met so many people who have raised money on our behalf – probably they’ve had the services of a Macmillan nurse and want to give something back.
“I’ve also met some wonderful friends on the committee.”
Denise had been chairman for two years and £50,000 was raised during 2010.
