The first Coy’s Classic & Sports Car Show auction saw a Lamborghini Miura which had been owned by rocker Rod Stewart sell for £909,000.

This huge amount was about double the price of anything else at the auction. However, the price was partly down to a £100k rebuild to exclusive SV spec.

The next biggest-ticket item was an Aston Martin DB5. The 1964 model was mostly original but the colour had been changed from Sierra Blue to California Sage Green. After 52 years with the same owner, the car went for £450,000.

The British contingent was helped by the sale of the first Range Rover registered as a Range Rover. The red and rare V8-engined 4×4 went for £80,000.

Some cars did push through their estimate price. A 1974 Ferrari Dino was estimated to go for £325,000. However, the 246GT Ferrari was one of only 498 right-hand-drive examples, and finally went for £371,000.

However, it wasn’t all big prices and glamor. A 1973 Wolseley Six had only had two owners in its entire history and was in lovely condition. Neither of the owners was Rod Stewart. It went under the hammer at just £3000.
